Linking Palazzone wines firmly within the origins and territory of Orvieto has not prevented us from modernising some of these traditions expanding the potential of what we have inherited.
In doing this we have resisted the modern trend towards ‘instant drinkability’ and some commonly held beliefs such as the one that it is impossible to age white wine made in Central Italy.
The results we have achieved with Campo del Guardiano have confirmed the validity of our undertaking.

The extraordinary number of centuries old indigenous vines in various Italian regions and their use in our ancient wine industry is in direct contrast to the ‘New World’ industry where wine is made from introduced varieties chosen for their particular characteristics.
We have tended to coast along with our traditions but recently many of our vignerons and winemakers have re-evaluated these indigenous varieties and, using new techniques and broader knowledge of vineyard management, are achieving new standards of quality that retain the character of the variety but enhance the excellence of the wine that results. At Palazzone we too have contributed to the rediscovery and revaluation of an Umbrian variety - Grechetto.
